Zeroł Expectations

Zeroł - Game Play Facts and Expectations

BASIC FACTS:

Zeroł is a guild serving the Galactic Republic on the server.

  • We will endeavor to play on a Player versus Player Role-Playing (PvP/RP) server.
  • Zeroł will actively take part in both Player-vs-Environment (PvE) and Player-vs-Player (PvP) combat - as determined by game content.

We desire folks who seek to be part of a team by joining in guild groups, raids, and events.

We highly suggest that you read the Zeroł background story in order to understand the concept and feel of Zeroł.

HIERARCHY

Guild Leader: Scion

Officer: Elder

Veteran Member: Adept

Member: Brother / Sister

Applicant: Initiate

CORE VALUES:
ACTIVITY:

An active guild is a healthy guild. Although we do not have defined activity requirements, members are to be active both in-game and on the website.

ATTITUDE:

Maintaining a positive attitude that shows respect for yourself, the others around you, and the guild as a whole.

SUPPORT:

Provide support for the guild and its membership by grouping with guild mates, joining in guild events, answering questions, and assisting those in need. The ability to provide support comes from the successful application of Activity and Attitude.

VISION & GOALS

To be a mature, well respected, and well liked guild within the Star Wars: The Old Republic community. As much as practical, we will be active in the official community. We do not spam, flame, ridicule, or in other ways act obnoxious to the community and its members.

To be successful in PvP as well as PvE.

Whether we are in guild groups, in raids against high end content, or in player-vs-player combat we will always do our utmost to be successful. We learn from defeats and repeat victories. We will be flexible enough to adapt and overcome and change tactics, skills, and equipment as needed (and available) for an encounter.

WHO WE ARE
We are a role-playing guild:

First and foremost, we respect the producer and developer provided canon and lore.

  • We are player-characters taking part in the Star Wars: The Old Republic universe; we are not creating a new universe of our own or incorporating other non-canonical universes into this one. We are not Drow, Colonial Warriors, MechWarriors, or any other such nonsense.
  • Legion of Myth (the parent organization of Zeroł) also has it's own official lore for those who wish to incorporate that into their backgrounds.
  • Where there is no Star Wars canon or lore we welcome the infinite imaginations of all of our members.

Naming rules are probably the issue we're most strict about. Don't try and be cute - ObeeOuan, Pewpewz, Skywalkerx, and Schwarts are names we'll never allow in Zeroł.

Although not mandatory, we encourage everyone to create character background, develop guild lore posts, and create stories regarding their character(s).

When in game, we try to role-play our characters wherever practical, and in all public channels.

  • In public in-game chat channels, such as /shout, /say, etc, remain in-character to the best of your ability.
  • In public in-game chat channels refrain from instant messenger shorthand (e.g. ur, m8, c u l8r, etc).

Role-playing is never an excuse to kill steal, corpse camp, or perform other acts of general rudeness.

Role-playing does not trump achieving; achieving does trump role-playing.

  • EXAMPLE: "This armor is ugly, and my character does not wear purple." If you want to wear the cool looking outfit when not on a guild event, that is perfectly fine. During a raid we expect you to be outfitted with the best gear and skills you can - no matter how ‘ugly' or ‘purple.'
  • We will not tell you how to play your character as long as your character is effective. If you don't like the idea of using blasters, as long as that shtick does not prevent us from being successful in completing a raid we're okay with that. We're not asking role-players to min/max to the detriment of the character, but we are expecting everyone to be effective in both PvE and PvP.

For the most part, there is little to no role-playing over Ventrilo, or in private guild chat or whispers.

We are a casual guild:

Real life comes first.

  • We are real life professionals, students, family people, that are unable to put the time into a game that would constitute us as a hard-core guild. However, when we play we do so to the best of our ability. We are casual in play time not in play style.

We ask people to play as much as they can, but we don't have activity expectations.

  • Exception 1: If you sign up for an event (if applicable), you are expected to be there.
  • Exception 2: We do expect people to stay current with the website and read/post on the message board forums.
We are an achievement guild:

When we do play, we do everything in our power to be the best players that we can be.

We make every effort to succeed and achieve within our casual playtime, the EULA/TOS, and spirit of the game.

We do use Ventrilo (VoIP / voice chat) and expect our members to use it for all guild events (PvE and PvP).

GUILD EVENTS & RAIDS

At this time, we do not know what content will be provided in SW:TOR. The following information is based on the traditional MMORPG, and may be updated/changed as SW:TOR game facts are released.

Guild Event

A Guild Event is any scheduled event (or, rarely, an ad hoc event called by the leadership). This could be a role-playing event, a recruiting event, an exploring event, a guild meeting, etc.

  • If you are logged into the game during the scheduled guild event time, there is room for you, and you are of the appropriate level you are expected to be in the event.
Raid

A Raid is a guild event that requires a full team of guild members to conquer an area, defeat player-characters, or defeat creatures.

Be available for the duration of the raid. For the sake of example, if raid time last from 6pm until 10pm on Friday nights, be available from 6pm to 10pm on Friday nights.

This is a team effort in which your services are needed. Please consider your fellow guild mates, and be courteous to them by giving them your time and concentration during raid time.

  • This is not the time to play alts, complete quests, and so forth. Since raid time will be decided by consensus prior to any event scheduling, we do expect that real life schedules will be reorganized (within legitimate reason) to ensure availability for the raid.
  • Extended dinners, walking the dog, and/or playing with the kids either has to be put on hold, conducted by another, or you have to miss the raid.
  • We ask that (with the exception of an emergency out of your control) you take breaks only at the appropriate times.

Be on time. A raid time of 6pm does not mean start running there at 6pm. It does not mean go gather raid gear from the bank at 5:59pm or go fishing for salmon at 6pm. It means have all of that done, and be ready to go BEFORE 6pm. First pull is at 6pm.

  • Just like the day of the raid, the time of the raid is determined by consensus - it's the best time for the most people. If work gets in the way and you can never make that time, we'll do our best to make adjustments as needed.
  • For example, due to children and the numerous Alaska players, the Warhammer guild changed raid time from 6pm Saturday to 8:30pm Saturday. However, being late because of the lack of planning or preparation is not acceptable.
BASIC LOOT RULES

To start, raid loot will be passed out by the guild leadership either by the Loot Council System or by calling for a Random Roll.

A Ladder System (aka: Suicide Kings System) will most likely be implemented as we become more raid worthy. However, Guild Officers will always have the right to determine (and the final say in) how loot is distributed for the overall betterment of the Zeroł guild.

  • We have no plans or desire to implement DKP.

Generally speaking, Zeroł plays by the Need Before Greed philosophy. Although there are instances where an exception may come into play, here are the basic guild looting rules based on the [ NEED | GREED | PASS ] rolling options.

  • If it upgrades what you are currently using ... OR ...
  • It is a needed requirement for a known specific purpose (i.e. Raid Resist Gear that’s not technically an upgrade) ... AND ...
  • You will actually equip it for use on the character you are using at the time the item dropped ... AND ...
  • There was no prior notice that if the item drops it goes to a specific player character ... THEN ...
  • You may roll NEED.

  • If the item isn’t a needed upgrade for character you are using at the time the item drops ... AND/OR ...
  • You will not equip the item on the character you are using at the time the item drops ... AND/OR ...
  • The item will be sold (vendor, trade, or auction) ... THEN ...
  • You may NOT roll NEED.

  • Unless previously identified and agreed to by the raid leadership, you may not roll NEED to give friends, family, or anyone else a greater chance to win the item. In other words, you may not win the item for another person. If YOU aren't going to use it on the character that you are playing at the time of the drop, you may not NEED roll for the item.
  • Unless previously identified and agreed to by the raid leadership, you may not NEED roll on any item intended for trade, the in-game auction, or any out of game auction (i.e. E-Bay).
MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS:
Universal Requirement:

Agreeing to these rules, standards, and expectations of Zeroł is a requirement for membership in Zeroł.

By joining Zeroł, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to all rules, standards, and expectations.

Role-playing and immersion into the Star Wars: The Old Republic game and universe:

Names that are obviously not in the spirit of the Star Wars/SciFi genre will not be accepted into Zeroł. Examples: ObeeOuan, Pewpewz, Skywalkerx, and Schwarts.

Outside of specified Guild Events role-playing is an option; however, even if you're not an active role-player, please support your fellow role-players.

We understand that role-playing isn't for everyone. We also understand that there will be little to no role-playing on Ventrilo; it'll mostly take place in chats, tells, and on the forums. Unless it's billed as a Guild Event, you are not required to get involved in role-playing; however, you are also not allowed to mock or disparage those who do role-play.

Role-players need to understand that PvP and tactics come before role-playing.

In-game communication:

Respect the community - even your enemies and the various jerks in the game.

Do not flame anyone, ever. This includes in game, on message board forums, and anywhere else where you represent Zeroł. Its better to let someone think you are a fool then for you to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

We do not use the shout channel to advertise recruitment, crafting, buying, or selling requests.

We refrain from instant messenger speak. With Ventrilo, you can talk to keep communication times short. There's no need to butcher the English language any more than necessary. Examples: ur, cu l8r, kewl, rgr, m8

Ventrilo:

All Zeroł members are to download, install, and use Ventrilo. (CLICK HERE FOR INSTRUCTIONS)

It should go without saying, but a working microphone is required.

Ensure you read the Ventrilo Instructions for proper setup configurations and expected etiquette.

Although we do not typically censor people in Ventrilo, the primary use of Ventrilo is for PvP and PvE coordination. Take the political discussions and other non-grouping related cross talk to another channel.

Try to keep the cussing to a minimum.

Applicants & Initiates:
Initiates who are invited into the Zeroł guild in-game, prior to completing the 4-step process, will have a maximum of one week (7 days) to complete the 4-step process or they will be removed from the in-game guild.
